A Line From Us

When Israel wandered in the wilderness for 40 years, they had with them the pillar of cloud by day and of fire by night - clear and present evidence of God’s glorious presence with them. That glory inhabited the tabernacle, and later the temple which Solomon built. However, owing to the nation’s disobedience, the shekinah glory departed from the Temple in Ezekiel 8-11. The glory of God was never seen again in the Old Testament.

But one night, while shepherds watched their flocks by night, the glory of God suddenly shone around them, and the angel announced the birth of Jesus Christ (Luke 2:9-11), who is the Light of the World. That glorious light, however, was veiled in the flesh of the Son of God, until His bold proclamation, “I have come as Light into the world, so that everyone who believes in Me will not remain in darkness” (John 12:46).

In short, this is the gospel message, it is also the message of this issue of Fishers. “Jesus the Light of the World” expounds this truth, “Expiry Date” invites you to think about the truth of life after death, and to consider your eternal destiny. “Not Far from the Kingdom of God” is a special plea to those who may know the Bible, who may have attended church for many years, but who may still be living in darkness. Other articles focus on Christian living: “Knowing the Will of God” and “How to be Truly Happy”.

As you savor this issue, we beseech you to heed the warning from the Lord Himself, “While you have the Light, believe in the Light, so that you may become sons of Light” (John 12:36).
